Intro to Teaching Aerial Yoga: April 13 & 14, 2018
9am - 6pm
Introduction to Aerial Mellow Flow (additional, optional): Sunday, April 15, 2018
9am - 6pm

Learn the necessary tools to teach safe, intelligent and dynamic Aerial Yoga Classes with Om Factory School of Yoga's Aerial Yoga Teacher Training Program (OFSY). This aerial style and teacher training is heavily rooted in and inspired by a traditional yoga practice. “Despite the eye-catching glitz of circus-inspired acrobatics, yoga is our meat and potatoes; circus is dessert,” says Teacher Kevin Bigger.

Introduction to Teaching Aerial Yoga
This 16-Hour Introductory Training covers the Foundations of Aerial Yoga. The main exploration will be the ways traditional yoga poses are altered by their interaction with the aerial hammock. Trainees must already have at least a base knowledge of yoga anatomy, philosophy and class sequencing.
Additional topics covered in this course include:
●    Basics of Cirque Acrobatics and Relevant Preparatory Conditioning
●    The Nuts and Bolts of Aerial Yoga Safety
●    Aerial Yoga Class Sequencing
●    Hands on Spotting and Assists

Trainees will receive:
●    OFSY’s 240-page, full-color manual, breaking down Aerial Yoga Asana, Conditioning Exercises and Basic Cirque.
●    Access to Om Factory’s online library of Cirque
●    A certificate of completion from OFSY

Upon completion of this two-day course, trainees will have the tools they need to begin using an aerial hammock as a prop in their vinyasa classes or to create sequences that implement this prop for the entire class.

Introduction to Aerial Mellow Flow
Aerial Mellow Flow is Om Factory’s answer to a Restorative Aerial Yoga Practice. This class uses the aerial hammock as a tool to create sacred space in the body, mind and spirit. A slow-moving Aerial Yoga flow gently warms the body in preparation for a series of long holds in poses inspired by yin and restorative yoga. Practical applications of pranayama and meditation techniques are often woven into the sequence as well. This exploration makes use of the aerial hammock much closer to the ground than in a general Aerial Yoga class.

This one-day introduction to the practice includes:
●    A sample class in this method taught by its creator, Kevin Bigger
●    Detailed breakdowns of over 30 Mellow Poses, all included in a 90-page, full color manual.
●    Discussion of multiple class sequencing strategies

This Mellow Flow Training presupposes basic knowledge of teaching aerial yoga and therefore is meant to be taken only by those who complete the first two days of the training. Teachers who already teacher Aerial Yoga are welcome to apply for this one day training, but will only be able to enroll if space allows.
